Creamy Green Chile Sauce

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small chopped onion
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 (14 1/2 ounce) can chicken broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 pinch oregano
  • 2 (4 1/2 ounce) cans chopped green chilies (undrained)

Recipe

  • 1 in saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
  • 2 saute onion and garlic until transparent.
  • 3 stir in flour until well-mixed and golden brown.
  • 4 slowly stir in broth and remove lumps.
  • 5 add chiles, cumin, and oregano and stir well.
  • 6 reduce heat to simmer; cook, uncovered, about 15 minutes.
  • 7 serve over burritos or your favorite tex-mex food.
